Journey to Armenia

This I hope is the resumption of this blog after a long absence. Recently I traveled to Armenia to meet with my friend Morteza from Iran. We agreed that it would be the best place to spend some time together while exploring a country neither of us had visited before.

Spending time with friends is always enjoyable and being able to learn and experience a different culture from one’s own is an added benefit. We had the opportunity to visit a number of churches, monasteries and historic sites in and around the capital city of Yerevan.

According to our tour guide it was very interesting to learn that although the nation of Armenia has a population of three million citizens, there are approximately six million Armenians who reside in other countries around the world.

Another enjoyable aspect of touring the country was in the meeting and interacting with people from various nations around the world. On one particular tour, we realized at what a small world we live in. One of the tourist's who was of Armenian descent had discovered a long lost relative that he had not seen in over 35 years approximately one mile from our midday lunch stop. It was amazing to witness the emotional exchanges of such a reunion.

The photos above were taken during our trip. Thank you Morteza for the excellent digital camera!
